Just HOW does Homeland Security choose whom to' pick on' for international flights?

I am in the USA,and my UK friend came to visit 3 weeks ago.He was basically interrogated upon arrival--direct flight from London to Cleveland.They searched his luggage,dumping it all over and trashing everything.Well,he left yesterday and Homeland Security broke the lock on his luggage and went through it. He is not the most conservative-looking guy around--earrings,a few tattoos,longer hair.Does this warrent THIS BS!!!!???? Typo--should be 'warrant'.

Yes it does warrant BS. Basically they pick on who they want. It can be politicial affiliation, it can be because of someone's name, religion etc.. Your friend probably looked too liberal for them and so they decided to pick on him. Then again your friend did go to Ohio.

Even U S citizens have had this happen.I think with the terrorist threats we face it's perfectly logical to randomly search different peoples luggage altho I do agree they could be a little nicer about trashing things.

I understand your frustration! I have always been checked coming or going!!! The worst one was Frankfurt, Germany as I stood in line with my wife (not going) the German security asked me to come back and open my luggage. I did they inspected and we all went our merry way. I lost one hour drinking coffee and saying good bye to my wife. Here is my kicker, I have a flat top kept short, no tattoos, no earrings and as a matter of fact most people ask if I am a retired military man! So, in the last 12 years of travel ling I have been stopped EVERY DAMNED TIME at one end or the other! As for the TSA, my locks have been cut since 2005. This may not answer your question but may open your eyes about the "PATRIOT ACT" and the assholes who hire assholes to work for assholes at airports.

They have a cup with a bunch of dice that have different race,age and body type data on them like...Tall white skinny young guy...short elderly asian woman etc etc. They roll the dice and pick one off the table while blindfolded. After reading the description they go get 'em.
