How can Continental Airlines lose an Unaccompanied Minor

How can Continental Airlines lose an Unaccompanied Minor?
I just saw on the news that Continental Airlines sent an unaccompanied minor who was flying between Boston and Cleveland to New Jersey. My question is how can the airline not tell that they put the kid on the wrong flight? Wouldn't their computer system say that the boarding pass doesn't match or something?

yes and it probably did say it doesn't match but some one was to lazy to do his or hers job

Yes, the computer system will say "Invalid" or "Flight number does not match" or some other error message for passenger boarding. However, for UNMR's, they are escorted down the jet bridge when they board and their boarding pass isn't scanned until later during the flight. In this instance, the gate where this happened had two airplanes at it. The child was brought to the wrong one. This brings up other issues. The flight attendant should know whether or not there are minors on the flight or not. ALL minors have paperwork with them that clearly state where they are headed. So when this kid was put on the wrong plane, someone should have done a better job. It happens a lot that regualar adult passengers get on the wrong plane, but for it to happen with unaccompanied minors is really unacceptable. I'd never use CO again if I were those parents. Sure, people make mistakes, but when it's a mistake of sending your 10 year old to another city, that's a huge one!
